Harrison Ford did an AMA!

So in the cool news for today, true Hollywood icon Harrison Ford did an AMA on Reddit.  You can find the whole thing here.   I took the time to read it and it was fun.  I particular liked when one person asked Harrison who shot first, Han or Greedo and Mr. Ford answered "I don't know and I don't care.".  The exactly appropriate answer to that, frankly, dumb question.

Harrison Ford is one of my favorite actors and like many others his films played a big part in my cinematic education as a kid.  He seemed to be such a larger than life figure but at the same time always struck me as someone who was very approachable in real life.  I know and have seen Mr. Ford be alittle prickly at times when being interviewed.  I am sure he dislikes that part of the job and the time it consumes to promote a film, as I am sure he is tired of being asked about when the next Indiana Jones is coming out.

The reason Mr. Ford is doing an AMA is for the HBO documentary series Years of Living Dangerously.
The series explores the environmental problems that exist presently all over the world and brings to light the actions of governments and people in power that have made these problems worse or, in some cases, created them in the first place.  It is certainly a worthy subject matter and objective for a documentary series and it has some big names involved such as Matt Damon, the aforementioned Mr. Ford, James Cameron, and others.  It is certainly something I will try and catch once it airs.

We should all be so lucky to be as fit and active as Mr. Ford is for his age.  I think he is still someone who could be admired, but not for his film work.  Rather he should be admired for all the good he does outside of acting, some of which he talks about in the AMA.  Things like using his celebrity to bring help to conservation efforts and being involved himself, flying rescue flights by helicopter, volunteering to aid in disaster regions.  Mr. Ford is someone who understands what is truly important in life and knows how to use his celebrity to help causes that are just.
